Growing up my parents instilled in my brothers and I the values of education, hard work, integrity, family & faith. I am by no means perfect, and only believe there was ONE that was, but have tried to exercise a life that is based on the pillars of those cornerstone foundations.
District beliefs:
- all civic positions should service through Servant Leadership first and foremost
- our priority should be to serve the needs of the students, teachers, and staff as best capable within the limitations and authority of the school board
- transparency on district critical or community involved decisions
- I voted FOR the 2021 LOISD Bond, understanding the strength of a community's appeal for sustained growth is heavily influenced by the quality of the education provided.
- If the student population continues to grow, our district must continue to evaluate the facility requirements necessary to provide a high quality education, it would be difficult for me to outright support a bond that did not precede an extensive analysis of alternative options and bond construction that would minimize any potential tax implications towards the community.
Texas Education beliefs:
- I am OPPOSED to the current proposed voucher program (also refereed to as school choice) that would help finance student tuition to private K-12 schools using state funds. All the rural communities (like ours) throughout Texas that don't even have proximal access to private education by default receive zero benefit from this proposal.
- I believe those funds should be reinvested into the public school systems, through increased or incentivized teacher compensation, increase in the funding for career technical education programs, tuition or compensatory incentives for teacher retention, additional traditional or technological resources to enhance and bolster the current curriculum and many others.
Political beliefs:
- I am a registered & voting Republican, but believe party affiliation from myself or anybody else should not drive, nor dictate decisions. All decisions should be based on what is best for the students, teachers, and staff of the Lone Oak ISD.
Religious beliefs:
- I am a Christian that believes, Jesus, my Lord and Savior died on the Cross for my sins. I also believe that regardless of anybody else's faith, I should treat them with the same care, empathy, and respect that I would want my family to be treated with.
My beliefs, outside of faith & family, are always open for me to better understand the subject matter, potential issues, or motivations from all sides to ensure my decisions or opinions are logically based on what I believe to be the best course of action and reflect the position of the people for which I serve.
